Drs. Levy and Frankle raise the issue of considering the differential diagnosis for chondrolysis following shoulder arthroscopy. We agree that all causes of this problem must be considered when evaluating these patients. An indolent infection could certainly result in a poor long-term outcome of any further treatment if not recognized.
