It is with great interest that we read the recent case report "Bilateral Shoulder Chondrolysis Following Arthroscopy. A Report of Two Cases" (2008;90:1338-44), by Greis et al. The patient they describe had devastating complications following arthroscopy. While the report suggests that the indwelling continuous pain pump was a probable causative factor, we wish to reemphasize that this clinical entity is still poorly understood. It typically presents with a patient complaining of pain and stiffness following shoulder arthroscopy.
