The study by Mirovsky and Neuwirth addresses an interesting clinical
question comparing the traditional "outer table" approach with the
nontraditional "intracortical" technique for obtaining autologous
iliac crest bone graft. Some of the issues raised deserve closer
attention.
First, the duration of preoperative symptoms and/or the characterization
