TO THE EDITOR:

I would like to comment on "A Comparison of Fixation Screws for the Scaphoid during Application of Cyclical Bending Loads" (79-A: 1190–1197, Aug. 1997), by Toby et al. In my opinion, it is not wise to test fixation of the scaphoid in only one position because the position of the scaphoid changes throughout the ranges of flexion-extension and radioulnar deviation of the wrist.
