TO THE EDITOR:

In "Arthrodesis for the Treatment of Arthrosis of the Ankle and Osteonecrosis of the Talus" (80-A: 370–379, March 1998), Kitaoka and Patzer reported that they performed arthrodesis of the ankle for the patients in Group I, who had arthrosis of the ankle but not of the subtalar joint. Their rationale for this type of treatment was the fair results following talectomy as reported in the literature.
