OSTEOPHYTES OF THE OS CALCIS

J. D. GRIFFITH M. D.

1. That the presence of bacteria is not a necessity for the production of an osteophytic deposit by the periosteum.

2. That constant irritation or constant pressure will easily give rise to a locus minoris restentia and so act as a cause of osteophytic deposit, especially when there is added to this a perverted metabolism.

3. That this thickening or deposit of bone is frequently the cause of painful foot.

4. That excision is the only treatment which is entirely satisfactory and the only preventative of future troubles.
