Frontal tomograms vertical to the long axis of the foot were studied in forty-three cases of treated congenital club foot. Characteristic changes of the middle subtalar joint were found as residual deformities: increased inclination of the middle subtalar joint surface of the calcaneus (supination of the calcaneus), hypoplasia of the sustentaculum tali, and narrowing of the talocalcaneal space. The residual deformity of the hind part of the club foot could easily be estimated by the inclination of the calcaneus on the frontal tomogram. There was a good correlation between increased supination of the calcaneus and residual equinus, varus, and adductus deformity.
