For chronic osteomyelitis of the calcaneus, total or partial resection was done in twenty patients. There was one post-anesthetic death. The results in eighteen patients were satisfactory in that the infection was eradicated and the patients were able to walk again, with or without orthopaedic shoes. In all eighteen patients weight-bearing on the heel was possible. One patient was lost to follow-up.
