Syme's Amputation in Insensitive Feet
A REVIEW OF TWENTY CASES
H. SRINIVASAN M.B.B.S., F.R.C.S.1
1 From the Central Leprosy Teaching and Research Institute, Chingleput
In twenty patients with leprosy and Syme's amputations, followed for an average of five years, ulceration of the stump end occurred in less than half of the patients and revision was needed in only five. The results in three patients were unsatisfactory primarily for reasons unrelated to the Syme's amputation. The remaining patients were satisfactorily functional.
