Scaphoid and Lunate Dislocation
REPORT OF A CASE IN A PATIENT WITH PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY
STANLEY L. GORDON M.D.1
1 From the Division Orthopaedic Surgery, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center The Pennsylvania State University, Hershey
A rare wrist injury is present in which the scaphoid was dislocated anteriorly along with the lunate and it is suggested that this was a perilunar dislocation of the carpus in which the remainder of the carpus returned to its normal position. The mechanism of injury is postulated as the result of dorsiflexion and ulnar deviation. It is also suggested that the patient's severe peripheral neuropathy may be implicated in the injury.
