Lipomas of the Upper Extremity

ROBERT D. LEFFERT M.D.1

1 From the Department of Orthopaedics, Hospital for Joint Diseases, Mount Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York, New York

A consecutive series of 122 patients with 141 lipomas of the upper extremities has been studied and the data analyzed. The anatomical distribution of these lesions has been documented, and the classic concept of lipoma of tendon sheaths has been questioned. The clinical presentation of the lesions and its significance has been explored.
