DAVID D. SCHERR M.D., PH.D.1, THOMAS A. DODD B.A.1, and WILLIAM W. BUCKINGHAM JR. M.D.1

1 From the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Microbiology, University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia

In vitro experiments on the bacteriocidal effects of bacitracin and polymyxin B sulphate, alone and in combination, were done on a variety of microorganisms. The application of those studies to irrigation of surgical wounds with these topical antibodies in concentrations of twenty-five to fifty units per milliliter and twenty-five to fifty micrograms per milliliter respectively is suggested.
