Cat scratch fever is a common disease which usually presents as a unilateral soft-tissue mass in an otherwise healthy child or young adult. When the tentative diagnosis of an atypical form of soft-tissue sarcoma is entertained in this age group, this disease process must be included in the differential. A supply of the antigen, easily prepared and stored regionally, can prove to be a valuable adjunct in diagnosis.
