PETER A. CASAGRANDE M.D.1 and PAUL R. DANAHY M.D.1

1 Suite 1005, 50 High Street, Buffalo, New York 14203

A case of delayed sciatic-nerve entrapment seconsdary to the use of self-curing acrylic in total replacement of the hip is reported. It is recommended that the posterior acrylic plug of the acetabular portion of the total-hip replacement be limited to the undercut part of the acetabular cortex. It should not penetrate the pelvis.
