The distal portion of the fibula was resected subperiosteally in two adolescent patients with large aneurysmal bone cysts extending close to the distal epiphyseal plate of the fibula. Follow-up studies, eight years after operation in one patient and two and one-half years in the other patient, showed satisfactory function and stability of the ankle.
