One hundred sixty-three patients, comprising four groups, underwent meniscectomy. In the first group, no immobilization or tube was used; in the second, only the suction tube was utilized; and in the third and fourth group a cast was applied without and with tube drainage, respectively. The use of suction drainage of a cast or both appeared to offer no advantage in recovery of strength and motion.
