Femoral Torsion in Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease

JACOB F. KATZ M.D.1

1 Department of Orthopedic Surgery, The Mt. Sinai Hospital and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York, and Blythedale Children's Hospital, Valhalla

The small group of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease patients (20 per cent) showing 10 degrees or more of increased anteversion cannot be accepted as a basis for a new etiological explanation of the disease. On the contrary, our data suggest that the Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease itself may be a factor in the production of the mild increase in femoral torsion.
