A chondrosarcoma of the synovium of the knee joint of five years' duration is described. The lesion invaded soft tissues and, in the initial biopsy specimen, was difficult to diagnose. Roentgenographically and grossly the tumor may be mistaken for synovial chondromatosis. The patient reported was well thirteen months after amputation.
