Treatment of Acute Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation by a Modified Bosworth Method

REPORT ON TWENTY-FOUR CASES

GERALD WEITZMAN 1

1 From the United States Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia

1. Twenty-four cases of acute acromioclavicular-joint dislocation are presented with a follow-up of nineteen treated by open reduction and coracoclavicular screw fixations

2. Methods of non-operative and operative treatment of acromioclavicular joint dislocations are reviewed.

3. A modification of Bosworth's method of coracoclavicular screw fixation is described.

4. Complete reduction of the dislocation appears to be essential for an excellent functional result.
