Emphasis again is directed to the variability of coxa plana. Unsatisfactory results continue to occur despite a uniform program of disciplined non-weight-bearing therapy. Abduction-brace support with non-weight-bearing appears to have an advantage over treatment in bilateral shoe traction. Prognosis is most favorable in the younger age group and does not seem to be related to the duration of symptoms at the time of diagnosis or to the duration of therapy.
