Total Amelia

CHARLES S. DRESHER M.D.1 and JAMES A. MACDONELL M.D.1

1 Area Child Amputee Center (Michigan Crippled Children Commission), 920 Cherry Street, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506

The world literature on total amelia was reviewed. Only eleven cases of the twenty-seven cases reported can, in our opinion, be substantiated as quadrimembral amelia. Two additional cases of quadrimembral amelia are added. The prosthetic devices prescribed for one of these children are described, as well as her functional development.
