Triceps Tendon Rupture
Case Report and a Method of Repair
Bradford S. Bennett M.D.1
1 WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA
The literature on traumatic rupture of the triceps tendon is reviewed and a successful repair of a ruptured triceps tendon, using a proximally based flap of brachial fascia, is reported. A fall on the extended upper extremity combined with a direct blow in the region of the tensed triceps tendon is the usual injury causing rupture. With prompt repair and immobilization in extension for three weeks, full recovery, can be anticipated.
