The growth of minerals, collagen, and hexosamine in the femora of rats ranging in age up to one year was studied. Significant sex differences were not observed in the quantities of these substances. The data suggested, however, that the mineral content might be greater in females than in males, and it was observed that estrogen administration increased mineral content.
