The Presence of Crystals in the Cytoplasm of Large Cells Adjacent to Sites of Bone Absorption

The size, location, and characteristics of these vacuolated cells lead us to believe that they are osteoclasts and that they contain mineral in crystalline form which they have removed from the neighboring bone.
