TRAUMATIC SUBCUTANEOUS RUPTURE OF THE TIBIALIS ANTERIOR TENDON

Merrill C. Mensor M.D.1 and George L. Ordway M.D.1

1 San Francisco, California

Rupture of the tibialis anterior may occur in any portion of the tendon. The problem of the contributory effect of atresia, degenerative changes, or both, has not yet been solved.

Primary operative suture, preferably with stainless-steel wire, is the treatment of choice. Recovery is prompt with little, if any, measurable permanent disability.
