The prognosis for osteomyelitis due to Blastomyces dermatitidis is not necessarily poor and depends on the degree of dissemination.
The authors wish to stress the close kinship between blastomycotic osteomyelitis and turberculous osteomyelitis, in pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, and treatment.
Surgery for this disease should be most judicious.
