An apparatus is presented for applying traction in flexion deformity of the hip, in hip disease. A case is described showing its application. We believe it is a desirable and improved way of utilizing traction because of the following features: It is easy to apply, comfortable to the patient, allows a pull in the direction of deformity, and permits immediate secure changes in the direction of pull as the deformity improves. It enables one to perform the Thomas test repeatedly without particularly disturbing the apparatus.
